Restaurant, bar, hotel at reasonable prices, "The People", the new flagship of the lifestyle brand, has set up in the Marais district of Paris. The idea? To offer places to live, well established in the neighbourhoods.

Grape Hospitality (250 to 300 million euros in turnover), owners of 106 hotels (Novotel, Mercure, ibis, Mama Shelter, youth hostels) and 70 restaurants in 8 European countries, will launch a new location in Paris (near the Marais district) on June 8 2022 under the brand name "The People". "We are looking to anticipate consumer trends by creating living spaces, a kind of experimental laboratory. This new concept responds to customer demand in terms of quality, price and experience", explains Frederic Josenhans, President of Grape Hospitality. Thanks to a rental investment of around 3 million euros, the manager intends to quickly find his place on the Paris market and is aiming for an 80% occupancy rate after 18 months and a turnover of 10 million euros per year from hotels and restaurants. The idea is simple: to offer a pleasant and economical place to live in the heart of the city centres of large conurbations with bars, hotels and restaurants "at reasonable prices". Nine stores have already opened under the brand name "The People" in Belleville, Bercy and Nation (for Paris) and in Lille, Strasbourg, Marseille, Tours, Aux 2 Alpes and soon in Le Havre and Caen.

Post-Covid conviviality

"You can come as a family, as a couple, alone and choose rooms, dormitories or flats, depending on your needs, or simply come as a neighbour. The Covid period brought out the need for meetings and conviviality in areas where work and tourism are mixed," explains Frédéric Josenhans. Thus, the new Paris address is integrated into a large building with shops, social housing, etc. No less than 400 beds "for travellers from all over the world" will be offered on 7 floors with "the longest bar in Paris" overlooking the Seine and a restaurant, the "Titi Palacio", which can seat 400 people. Room prices range from 22 euros to 200 euros... foreign tourists should appreciate it. Surfing on consumer expectations, the group has also launched the "Demeures de campagne" brand around a "Slow Travel" concept, for an upmarket experience less than an hour and a half from Paris. "It's a place where you can spend quality time as if you were in a country house," notes the chairman. When will the next inspiration come?
